KNOW YOUR NOISE LEVELS

SO THAT YOU CAN

TAKE ACTION

Developed by our expert engineers in London, the FocusLite™ Ear Defenders have sensors that can measure and monitor sound levels as they reach both the internal and external sides of the ear cups. They are made to adhere to UK safety regulations.

By doing this, the FocusLite™ environmental noise monitoring headset can calculate both the noise levels in the environement and the noise levels that reach your ears. It is also able to calculate your noise exposure dose as part of your daily and weekly noise exposure limits.

The speakers play back the surrounding sounds to your ears but limit it with LimitMax™ technology so that the headsets do not damage your hearing. This gives you environmental and situational awareness without causing over protection that interferes with your hearing.

Level Dependence Environmental Noise Monitoring

HearThrough & LimitMax

Eave headsets are level dependant and allow through all sounds in real-time. This has several benefits over traditional passive hearing protection without noise monitoring.

Eave speakers use LimitMax™ to hard limit sound that is being played back to the ear to 83dB. This ensures that you can hear your surroundings in a loud environment such as construction but below harmful levels.

Eave HearThrough™ noise monitoring technology prioritises throughput of speech frequencies. This ensures that you are always able to communicate with others around you.

would you know

if you had been

overexposed?

A series of high noise overexposure events can cumulatively result in you exceeding your daily allowable dose and this is called overdose.

Becoming overdose due to noise exposure is a combination of the sound pressure and the duration of time you are exposed to that sound. This table shows that scale and how both the level and the time create a sliding scale.

This means that you can be exposed to a very high dose for a very short period of time and still exceed legal levels of dosage. Understanding the complex and rapid nature of overexposure helps when trying to measure and improve protection.

Overexposure

and Overdose

Duration (hr/min)

Sound Pressure Level dB(a)

For example 2 minutes at 110dB = 130% dose
(30% over the daily legal limit.).
An increase of just 10dB to 120dB would mean a 1300% dose was experienced.

Protection

Eave noise monitoring headsets measure both the environmental sound level as well as your personal dose exposure. This means you can see both the noise that reached your ears, as well as the protection that has been delivered had the protection not been worn.

With traditional hearing protection you have no visibility of the level of exposure you have experienced. In the example shown above, even very good protection worn well may not be sufficient for your working environment.

Our noise monitoring ear defenders are available for UK workers in industries such as construction and manufacturing. Your data is displayed on our Peak™ platform for monitoring operatives and ensuring the strongest regulatory compliance.
